Administrative history
In accordance with the CERN Convention (1953), the CERN Council established a Finance Committee which held its first meeting on 9th October 1954.
The role of the Finance Committee is to control the management of CERN on behalf of the Council and the Member States. It checks the accounts, it gives its opinion on certain expenditures before they are made, it looks at the distribution of industrial contracts between national industries, it considers salary scales and management of personnel and so on. It is composed of at least one representative from each Member State, representing their countries.

The items in this collection were created for and from the meetings of the Finance Committee. The usual documents are lists of participants, agenda, minutes, progress reports, and drafts of all these documents
