In 2016, the CERN management changed and adopted a new organizational structure.

CERN activities were regrouped into four sectors:

• Accelerator and Technology (AT)
• Finance and Human Resources (FHR)
• International Relations (IR)
• Research and Computing (RC)

The Finance and Administrative Processes (FAP) combined the former Resources Planning, Processes and Controlling unit and Financial and Accounting Services, and was located with Industry, Procurement and Knowledge Transfer department (IPT), Human Resources Department (HR), Site Management and Buildings Department (SMB) to form the Finance and Human Resources sector. 

FAP was responsible for resources planning and controlling, accounting, treasury and cash management, third-party funding, and administrative computing and reporting across the Organization.
