In 2016, the CERN management changed and adopted a new organizational structure.

CERN activities were regrouped into four sectors:

• Accelerator and Technology (AT)
• Finance and Human Resources (FHR)
• International Relations (IR)
• Research and Computing (RC)

Industry, Procurement and Knowledge Transfer department (IPT) was located with the Finance and Administrative Processes Department (FAP), Human Resources Department (HR), Site Management and Buildings Department (SMB) to form the new Finance and Human Resources Sector.

IPT was responsible for all aspects of procurement and industrial services, recuperation and sales, as well as relations with industry and knowledge transfer.
